Meet Your Benicia Preschool Teachers
The people are what make each school feel like home. Our Benicia teachers are warm, experienced, and here to know your child as an individual. Our teachers know the children as individuals, build relationships with families, and often stay with Sunshine House for years.
Erika
Ms. Erika has been part of Sunshine House since 2019 and loves supporting children as they learn, grow, and gain confidence. Her warm personality and bilingual skills help her build meaningful connections with children and families. Outside of school, she loves beach vacations, pizza, and cheering on the 49ers.
Maria
With us since 2021
Ms. Maria joined Sunshine House in 2021 and loves being part of a caring community of children and teachers. She especially enjoys bringing fun
and music into the children’s day—“Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee” is a favorite! Outside the classroom, she loves koala bears and everything
about Christmas.
Georgina
With us since
Ms. Georgina, or Ms. G, loves creating a classroom filled with happiness, caring, and plenty of laughter. She enjoys sharing stories and songs with
the children and believes in approaching each day with love. Outside of school, her favorite thing is spending time with family and friends.
Kyle
With us since
Mr. Kyle has been teaching since 2015 and brings an energetic, playful spirit to the classroom. His sense of humor makes learning fun, and his
knowledge of American Sign Language adds another special way to connect with children. Outside of school, he loves dogs, the color green,
and Christmas.
Lanzhen
Ms. Lanzhen has been teaching since 2014 and is known for her calm, nurturing presence in the classroom. Fluent in Chinese and Mandarin,
she especially enjoys encouraging children’s creativity through art. In her free time, she loves beadwork, cross-stitch, making silk flowers, and
visiting the beaches of Hawaii.
Dalaney
Ms. Dalaney has been teaching since 2018 and brings a warm, nurturing spirit to her classroom. One of her favorite compliments came from a child
who told her, “When I grow up, I want to be a teacher like you.” Outside of school, she loves animals, sunflowers, and celebrating Christmas.
Heather
Ms. Heather loves watching each child grow, learn, and develop their own unique personality. Her creative side shines through her love of drawing,
nature photography, Legos, and playing the kalimba. At home, she enjoys spending time with her cat, Bubbles.
Jen
Ms. Jen joined Sunshine House in 2023 and loves helping children grow into confident, happy versions of themselves. She brings creativity and enthusiasm into the classroom and has a special love for all things Disney. Outside of school, she enjoys crafting Disney ears and dreaming about her next Disneyland or Hawaii adventure.
Jas (Phyu)
Ms. Jas has been teaching since 2023 and loves introducing children to new songs, dances, stories, and experiences. Originally from Myanmar,
she speaks Burmese and French and brings a wonderful multicultural perspective to the classroom. Outside of school, she enjoys photography, technology, and dreaming of a trip to Paris.
Maribel
Ms. Maribel brings more than a decade of experience working with children, including many years in special education. She loves creating fun connections with children through books, music, and learning. Outside of school, she enjoys cooking, history, fall weather, and spending time with her two dogs and three cats.
Michelle
Ms. Michelle has more than a decade of experience working with children and brings warmth and creativity to the classroom. She especially loves
helping children understand and express their emotions through books and everyday experiences. Outside of school, she enjoys coloring, crafting, Disney’s Stitch, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Susie
Ms. Susie loves starting her day by seeing the children’s happy faces and
creating a classroom where they feel cared for and excited to learn. Inspired by her own first-grade teacher, she brings that same love of teaching to Sunshine House each day. Outside of school, she enjoys time with her three daughters, her cat Miso, and trying new restaurants with her sister.
Emili
Ms. Emili strives to create a classroom where every child feels safe, supported, and knows they can count on her. She believes that “every
day we start fresh” and loves being part of each child’s growth. Outside of school, she enjoys family time, hiking, coffee, the beach, and trying foods
from different cultures.
Alex
With us since
Ms. Alex loves helping children build confidence, be themselves, and develop a lifelong love of learning. She believes teaching is a two-way experience and loves how much she learns from the children, too.
Outside of school, she enjoys art, playing bass guitar, beach days, and celebrating Halloween.
